เกือบสองปีหลังจากเปิดตัวกล้อง Canon EOS 20D ในวันนี้ Canon ได้เปิดตัวกล้องรุ่นใหม่ออกมาแทนรุ่น EOS 20D ในชื่อรุ่น EOS 30D ชื่อรุ่นคล้ายกับกล้องดิจิตอล SLR ตัวแรกของ Canon รุ่น EOS D30 ที่วางจำหน่ายเมื่อ 3 ปีก่อน โดยปรับปรุงให้มีประสิทธิภาพที่สูงมากขึ้นหลายอย่าง เซ็นเซอร์ภาพใช้ CMOS ความละเอียด 8.2 ล้านพิกเซล พร้อมใช้งานหลังจากเปิดสวิตช์กล้องใน 0.15 วินาที เร็วที่สุดในบรรดากล้องดิจิตอล SLR ของ Canon กำหนดวางจำหน่ายเดือนเมษายน 2549 ในราคา 59,900 บาท (เฉพาะบอดี้ไม่รวมเลนส์) ซื้อกล้องรุ่นนี้ BUY NOW

เซ็นเซอร์ภาพ CMOS ขนาดใหญ่ 22.5 x 15.0 มม. ความละเอียด 8.2 ล้านพิกเซล และหน่อยประมวลผลความเร็วสูง DIGIC II ให้ภาพที่มีความคมชัดสูงและมี Noise ต่ำ ช่วงความไวแสงกว้าง ISO 100 ถึง 1600 ขยายได้ถึง ISO 3200 ในคัสตอมฟังก์ชั่น เมื่อนำเลนส์ EF มาใช้จะคูณทางยาวโฟกัสเพิ่ม 1.6 เท่า เหมือนกับ EOS 20D และ EOS 350D

พร้อมกันนี้ได้เพิ่มฟังก์ชั่น Picture Styles สำหรับการใช้งานที่หลากหลาย ให้ภาพที่มีคุณภาพดีตรงกับลักษณะของภาพอย่างง่ายดาย เช่น โหมดภาพขาวดำปรับเลือกฟิลเตอร์เพื่อให้ได้โทนภาพแบบต่างๆ ภาพทิวทัศน์ให้สีที่สุดใสเช่นสีฟ้าของท้องฟ้า ภาพบุคคลให้สีผิวที่ไล่เฉดอย่างนุ่มนวลสมจริงตามธรรมชาติ เป็นต้น ในโหมดครีเอทีฟโซนผู้ใช้สามารถปรับแต่งคอนทราสท์ ความคมชัด โทนสีและพารามิเตอร์อื่นๆ เพิ่มเติมได้เอง เพื่อให้ได้ลักษณะของภาพในสไตล์ที่คุณชื่นชอบ หรือจะดาวน์โหลดพารามิเตอร์เพิ่มเติมจากเวบไซต์ของแคนนอนมาใส่ในตัวกล้องก็ได้ การปรับตั้งพิกเจอร์สไตล์ด้วยตนเองสามารถปรับแต่งได้มากถึง 48,816 รูปแบบ ช่วยให้สร้างสรรค์ภาพได้อย่างไร้ขีดจำกัด หากปรับตั้งที่ตำแหน่ง Standard จะปรับตั้งพารามิเตอร์แบบเดียวกับ Standaed ในกล้องรุ่นท๊อป EOS 1D Mark II N
