Rufous Piculet
นกหัวขวานจิ๋วอกแดงมีขนาด 9 ซม. ลำตัวเล็ก ปากแหลมตรงสั้นและแข็งแรง หางสั้น ด้านบนลำตัวสีเขียวอมเหลือง ด้านล่างลำตัวสีส้มอมน้ำตาลแดง รอบวงตาสีแดงอมชมพู ตัวผู้มีสีเหลืองที่หน้าผาก นกหัวขวานจิ๋วอกแดง จะไต่ไม้หากินอย่างคล่องแคล่ว ตามต้นไม้ที่ขึ้นเบียดเสียดกันจนรกทึบ และยังชอบเขัาไปรวมฝูงกับนกเล็กอื่นๆ อาหาร ได้แก่ หนอนและแมลง ทำรังตามลำไผ่ผุ หรือตอไม้เล็กๆ นกหัวขวานจิ๋วอกแดง เป็นนกประจำถิ่น พบตามป่าดงดิบ ป่าชั้นสองและป่าไผ่ ตั้งแต่ที่ราบจนถึงระดับความสูง 1300 เมตร อยู่ทางภาคใต้
