นกหัวขวานสามนิ้วหลังสีไพล Olive-backed Woodpecker นกหัวขวานสามนิ้วหลังสีไพล มีขนาด 28 ซม. ลำตัวสีเขียวไพล หางดำ จากโคนปากถึงคอมีแถบสีดำสลับขาว ตัวผู้มีหงอนสีแดงสด ตัวเมียหงอนมีสีดำ นกหัวขวานสามนิ้วหลังสีไพล จะกินตัวหนอนตามต้นไม้ โดยใช้ปากเจาะเนื้อไม้แล้วแลบลิ้นยาวเข้าไปเลียจับเอาตัวหนอนออกมากิน นกหัวขวานสามนิ้วหลังสีไพล เป็นนกประจำถิ่นอาศัยอยู่ทางภาคใต้ตอนล่าง ตามป่าทึบชื้น ในระดับล่างของป่าดงดิบ |
